Motives

Why do we do the things we do? Why do I do the things I do? That is a question I've been considering a lot lately. We all have reasons, motives, and intentions behind what we say and what we choose to do. I want to be intentional to respond out of the right heart, prompted by God. It's easy to talk and act out of my flesh, but that benefits no one.

In Ezekiel 13 God is exposing the false prophets who God says have been following their spirit and acting out of their own imagination...verse 5 stopped me the other morning...."You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD."The things these prophets were doing and saying were not motivated by the purpose to help heal and restore the city or the people. They may have seen the broken places, but they did nothing. We need to be prompted out of a heart to see lives restored not to just be seen or heard.

I don't want to see the "breaks in the wall", the needs in the lives of others, and do nothing. I want to see those "breaks" and do anything God asks in order to see those around me to stand firm.
